Avalon Salon & Day Spa Celebrates Anniversary With White Truffles

Avalon Salon & Day Spa (located in the same Shoppes at The Pointe plaze as Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream and the Coffee Beanery Café in Tampa Palms) owner Rose Weinberg is proud to be celebrating three years of customer raves next week, at a special evening called “A White Truffles Event” on Wednesday, September 13, 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
“It’s our way of saying thank you to our customers and to give everyone who has never been here before an opportunity to try some of our spa services for free, including the Alterna White Truffle Luxury Treatment, one of the most luxurious treatments you can give your hair and scalp.” According to its marketing materials, “Alterna White Truffle is an ultra-rich conditioner designed for moisture-starved and even chemically treated hair. Ideal for daily use or as a weekly conditioner, it is a unique, hydrothermally activated conditioning system that locks in moisture and nutrients to revitalize each hair follicle without weighing the hair down. The conditioning treatment features European truffle oil, the planet's richest source of B vitamins. Alterna's exclusive luxury blend provides unprecedented manageability and radiant shine without build-up and contains thermal protectants and full spectrum UV protection.” Sounds pretty good to me. Also available at the Avalon event are chair massages and arm and hand exfoliation treatments. All of the treatments are available by appointment only, but the appointments are filling up quickly, so call Avalon (866-8400) now to reserve your spot.
Rose’s daughter Limor, who manages Avalon’s Day Spa, said just before our press time that she did still have some appointments available for the event, which has gotten a boost from folks who live outside the New Tampa area, thanks to having an invitation to it e-mailed to members of the local website TampaBayBeauty.com, which (as reported in a previous issue) is a division of the national website PrettyCity.com. “We are expecting to have 70-80 people here for the event,” says Rose. “There will be 20 of our salon and spa employees on hand to provide these services at no cost. There also will be wine, cheese and other refreshments served.” The one thing to note is that to make a reservation for Avalon’s “White Truffles Event,” you have to make a $20 deposit, which will be given back to you as a credit for hair care, makeup and other salon and spa products at Avalon. I know a certain editor’s wife is planning to attend this incredible upcoming event, although Terrie Nager was convinced she needed to go back to Avalon after she received two recent luxurious spa treatments there — Avalon’s signature lavender and rose spa pedicure and a deep tissue massage.
“There is big difference between getting a spa pedicure at Avalon and getting one at the nail salons,” Terrie told me afterward. “At those places, a pedicure is just a pedicure; but the spa pedicure I had with (nail technician) Angela (see photo on page 16) at Avalon was such a relaxing and much more enjoyable experience. I can’t wait to go back.”
