For Him

Tampa Bay Fashion: Haute & Hip

True, we may not date Greek billionaires or marry soccer gods. But why can't we dress like those who do?

Thankfully, the fashion gurus at kitson are allowing us this privilege by premiering both the Paris Hilton and Denim by Victoria Beckham lines. kitson insiders gave us the scoop on what's new and what's being snatched up by fashion-makers.

Can one ever have enough sparkly, shiny clothes? Paris thinks not. Metallic denim jeans, sequined tops and dresses, and satiny blouses are signature pieces in the line. The "Tabloid Blondes" tees are just plain fun. Classic denim is here too - both wide and skinny leg jeans. But Paris' best gift to us? The prices. Jeans run from $78-$98, tops are $38-$78 and dresses are $78-$128. Meaning we too can look like heiresses on our 9 to 5 budgets.

For those seeking visible star power, many of Victoria Beckham's new denims sport her signature metallic stars on the back pockets. We love the wide variety of high-quality denims that are available in white, black, gray and medium or dark wash blue. With prices from $200-$290 these jeans may not fill our closets, but the Denim by Victoria Bekham line is sexy, spicy and clearly posh. Another kitson bestseller is the DVB Eyewear collection, often seen on Victoria and David when they're out and about.

Both celebrity collections are available in kiston's Los Angeles bricks and mortar store (115 S. Robertson Blvd.) and online, as are kitson's signature line of bags, shoes and logo gear (check out the fabulous silver cote d'azur overnight bag and their popular sneakers with a world-wide following).

Tampa Bay Fashion: Chip & Pepper

The twins behind our new favorite denim, Chip Foster and Pepper Foster, took a few minutes to chat with us about their store, their famous jeans and what's hot and on the way.

PC: Now, the fabulous jeans with the hot look.  Are the fabrics unique to C&P?
Chip:   All our washes are unique to us, and personally developed by me and my brother.  We put a lot of time into our washes; it's something we're known for. We start with the best denim, even creating it from scratch if we need to.  Then we spend time on the wash, what to treat the denim with and the softness.

PC:   We love the names (and fit!) of your boot cuts - Sorority Girl and Walk of Shame, but what's the most popular style?
Chip: More and more the brand has become known for our Stella style.  Stella sits lower in the front, for that chic style women crave, yet has a higher back rise that instantly lifts the bum while providing just the right amount of coverage (read: no surprise panty flashing!).  The fit is unbeatable and works for every body type.

PC: Can we celebrity name drop?
Chip: We don't really design our clothes hoping to end up on the red carpet.  We design to make everyone look and feel good.
Pepper: We actually get just as excited when we see a picture of Gisele in our jeans as we do when we see our jeans on non-celebrities. However we can count Beyonce, Jessica Simpson, Hillary Duff, Sarah Jessica Parker, Usher and Matthew McConaughey among our fans.

PC: What should we be on the lookout for this fall?
Pepper:  We will see a lot of wide leg, high waist trousers and boot cut - a continued evolution away from the skinny trend, but skinny/straight legs will still be in existence - just fewer styles.  In spring we are offering a lot of tailored pieces, almost a couture approach to production with handmade attention to the production of pockets, inseams.unbelievable work.

PC:  What's next for you two?
Chip: I think we'll be getting more into TV again, doing more work on style and fashion shows.
Pepper: And of course, expanding our line.  Here's a sneak peak at what's ahead. Spring 2008, which we're working on now, is really going to focus on fabrics. We will offer organic, coated denim and sourcing more fabrics from Italy . Coated denim will make a big splash - lightweight denim with a black dyed overcoat on top of the indigo.  You read it here first!
